TASHA T BIO From the tender age of fourteen it was evident that Tasha T was destined for greatness. The multi-faceted reggae artist is a tribute to female determination and drive. The petite and diminutive singer with the big voice leaves an indelible impression and cherished memories on audiences the world over with her distinctive vocal styling, exciting and compelling stagecraft. Little Miss Natasha Whyte aka “Tasha T” was born in Canada. Her passion for music first emerged when she was very young as she would watch and listen to the DJs/selectors on Road Block International, her father’s “sound system” in Toronto, Canada. Inspired by Reggae and Rock Steady royalty such as the late Phyllis Dillon, Judy Mowatt and Marcia Griffiths, Tasha developed her own unique SingJay and singing style. Throughout her storied career, Tasha T performed on many major festivals including, but not limited to, Reggae Sumfest, Reggae Sunsplash (Jamaica), Reggae Carifest, IRIE Jamboree, Linkage Awards (NYC), and Calgary Reggae Festival (Canada). She has also shared the stage with many reggae greats, Beres Hammond, Ken Boothe, Marcia Griffiths, Maxi Priest and much more. With a discography that stretches back to the 1990s, Tasha’s longevity can only be explained by her dedication, versatility and creativity. There has been many chart toppers, to include, the Reggae classic “Win or Lose” (#7 – New York Top 30 Reggae Charts), “Hold Me” (Canada’s CHRY 105.5 FM Reggae Charts), and “One More Try” (#5 – Ghana’s West Africa Reggae Charts). 2010 proved to be a defining moment with the release of “NEW DAY”. The hard hitting single emphasized the need for a change and positioned the artiste on her current rise to the top. It quickly rose to #10 on Italy’s Reggae Charts. Several months later she followed up with “HOT YA NOW” a vibrant single that immediately soared to #1 on the Canadian Top 11 Reggae Charts. With 2010 behind her, Tasha T continued her assault on the reggae scene in 2011 with “ONLY A WOMAN KNOWS”. The single’s popularity led to the video release and continues to get consistent rotation and airplay. The fan appeal that had eluded this positive artiste throughout the years was finally a reality. Her hard work in 2011 gained her the Linkage Awards coveted Canadian Artiste of the Year. Her latest single “WORLD IN A TURMOIL” a powerful song speaking out on the injustices throughout the world continue to create waves within the reggae music industry that is in desperate need of positive upliftment. She is currently serving as Read Across Jamaica Foundation 2012 Musical Ambassador, having recorded their theme song “EDUCATE YOURSELF”.
