PLEASE *•..¸¸.ℒℴѵe★PINKY A volunteer writes:Pinky is with us as her family counting many children is facing homelessness. She was owned from the tender age of one week and is said to be a Presa Canario, a breed known for its loyalty and protective habits. Pinky was quite scared upon arrival at the care center. Last night, after few days of just talking to her and treating her, I made my move. Pinky got up from her couch, her tail was wagging. I leashed her without effort. She is a beautiful girl, large, a little bit Labbish, on the thin side and wearing a well groomed almost skin color coat. Her eyes are intense and do not avoid mine. I try her first in the yard. Her tail is between her legs. Leash free, she stays around me. She loves roastbeef that she takes greedily from my hand. Pinky is clearly hungry. She accepts my caresses and comes closer and closer, settling by my side for more bonding. We take a walk around the block. She eliminates in one stop. We meet a few dogs without issue. She pulls quite a bit but will stop when I ask her to. Her tail is happier. Pinky likes her freedom and the cool air. Back in the building, Pinky stiffens again. She looks so unhappy in her kennel and growls at the dog next door. Pinky is described by her former owners as a wonderful pet who played with and loved kids even allowing them to touch her food and toys. She lived in peace with other dogs although she did not like sharing her possessions with them. She was very protective of her family and not much socialized with the outside world... humans and dogs alike. Pinky, if given a chance, will need to go to an experienced owner who will show leadership and introduce her to others than her new family.I so hope that Pinky will meet her match and be the awesome gal she always wanted to be.Pinky is at the Manhattan Care Center. Another volunteer writes: Pinky and I have seen quite a bit of each other by now. She is my daily walk and I have grown quite fond of her. I am not surprised that she did not like to be looked at right in the eye by the staff assessing her behavior. Pinky is not too socialized and allows an eye to eye only with the people she knows. Believe me, then, she is all eyes on you… Look at her pictures. Even the camera does not phase her...She is still a bit scared and skittish, loves to run free in a pen, seems fine meeting other dogs though the gate. She has the love and loyalty, but she has to learn social skills. This can be done…in the right hands. Will it be you? Trusted Volunteer Evelyn Cumps notes: I love Pinky but she is under socialized and needs a foster or adopter who knows the breed and can make her sociable toward people and dogs who are not part of her family. We hit it off and I bet that in the right hands , she can do the same with another PLEASE Email or Message The Help Desk [email protected] for HELP, if you can FOSTER/ ADOPT ★PINKY ★
