TBT: Yesterday, marked 4 years since I held the hand of one of the greatest men I have ever known as he drew his last breath. If you know me, or have followed my campaign, Im sure by now you have heard me talk about my Papa, the Dubuque Lt. Firefighter on whose birthday I announced I was running for Iowa House. You may have watched me get chocked up during one or two of my speeches where I talked about his significance in my life and how he taught me that as a young girl, I had every right at the table as the grown men. Or, you may have read one of many FB posts discussing how his public service inspired my own. Maybe you were actually lucky enough to have met him yourself. I hope you were, but if you werent, let me leave you with this video that I made after his passing. In it, you wont see him talking about politics, you wont be able to hear the conversations that shaped my life, but youll be able to see what he did that was bigger than any fire he ever put out--- love. He loved big. He worked hard. He knew what mattered most. He might not have made history books, but his legacy lives on in all that he loved along the way. Love and miss you Papa ... Today and everyday.
