TEACHING OF 21st /6/2013 IN PURANGA TOPIC: I AND I ALONE CAN CHANGE THINGS Bible Reference: Romans 12:1-2, Rom 12:1 “ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”(NKJ) We believe there is a way of thinking that the world is taking right now which is opposed to the way of God. May be we find ourselves living just like everyone is living now but that doesn’t mean that it is the only way to live; we can choose to live in a different way and walk in a powerful way by allowing God and his words to guide our lives. It is true that everyone may not have lived beyond their limit but we can change our mind and change the trend of all that was meant to bring us down. In order to make change in your life you must do the following: a. Change Your Mind You must have a willingness to change. Recognize that in a world such as ours, the unwillingness or inability to change is fatal. Prefer to be in charge of your life rather than being caught up in the flash flood of change that is inevitable and unavoidable. The words of the truly flexible person, the person who is willing to change are simply, “I changed my mind.” Mental flexibility is the most important quality that you will need for success in the 21st century. “Change Your Mind” Say it many times. b. Admit When You Are Wrong Be willing to admit when you are wrong. Eighty percent of people use most of their mental and emotional energy defending their wrong instead of admitting their mistake. Don’t let this happen to you. Truly intelligent, highly creative people are open minded, fluid, flexible and willing to both change their mind and admit that you are wrong when their earlier decisions turn out to be incorrect. c. Continue to Learn Always learn to say, “I don’t know.” Recognize that it is impossible for anyone to know something about everything, and it is very likely that almost everyone is wrong to some extent, no matter what you are doing. So when someone asks you a particular question that you don’t know the answer to, you admit it early and often. You simply say, “I don’t know.” And if necessary you go about finding the answer. Here’s an important point. No matter what problems you have, there is someone somewhere who has had the same problem and who has already solved the problem and is using the solution today. One of the smartest and most creative things you can do is to find someone else, somewhere, who is already implementing the solution successfully and then copy him or her. The smartest person is not necessarily the person who comes up with the idea. It may be just a lucky flash of insight. The smartest person is the one who copies the idea first. And it is often the person to recognize the value of a new idea that makes a fortune from the idea while the originator makes little or nothing. d. Eliminate Your Ego Have less ego involvement in being right. Be more concerned with what’s right rather than who’s right. Be willing to accept ideas from any source to be successful, overcome an obstacle, or solve a problem. Most children are wasting time celebrating who is doing better than them. They forget to struggle to become the best, aim high and do something. RESPONSE TO GOSPEL According to Kizza, he was thinking that some are born bright and if you fail, that means you can never change. Now he will now work hard to score high just like any other child. Ambrose said he was thinking that to be bright in class you should have red eyes but now he knows that anyone can work hard and change things. NEEDS/CONCERN 1. Two children, Jennifer and Brian, were sick and out of school and needed prayer. 2. Some children who missed presenting who they want to become did later. 3. We concluded to continue teaching the children every Friday
