TEAM! Some Profound words by Jacki Shehan Clark. After Marson - TopicsExpress

TEAM! Some Profound words by Jacki Shehan Clark. After Marson A. Kay died at Weeki, a lot of us lost our way for a while. We left the exploration of Weeki for other ventures; but we always kept the door open to returning. Yesterday, for the first time since April 30, 2012, we returned to Weeki to check in on the exploration team. Just being there was emotional; but there was something in the air. We had said wed only stay a minute; but its as if someone or something held us there... Then, Matt Vinzant surfaced after checking on the team at deco. To answer everyones question, he told us that as he swam up to the team, Brett B Hemphill held up a sign. Welcome to Weeki Wachee, it read. Amid the gasps, cheers, and applause, there were tears and more than a few blessings uttered for Marson. Finally, after at least 7 years of active exploration, the first massive connection is complete. I am honored and humbled to have been part of the early team; and I am beyond proud of our two superheroes, the Wonder Twins, Brett Hemphill and Andy Pitkin. It is my prayer, also, that no one forgets the incredible cost of this exploration; and that we never take this effort for granted. We must never forget the countless hours of mental and physical preparation, the personal and career sacrifices, the lost hours with loved ones and the resulting relationship issues, the financial strain of independent exploration, and all of the other things given up to make this possible. Most of all, we must never forget all the people who came together in myriad ways, at different times, and under ever-changing circumstances to allow this significant discovery. Lastly, we must thank the Florida Parks Service and SWFWMD for the permits and permission to undertake this quest.
