TEN Kimberly McCoy?? How do you choose these numbers?? Just remember, you asked for it: 1. I was terribly shy as a child (Don’t laugh). 2. I used to race powder puff bmx. (are you laughing?) 3. I used to model- tea room, fashion shows, magazine ads, covers, and a few stints on tv, including 2 on the town’s birthday of the bikini episode (quit laughing!). Nothing all that impressive. Just enough to be able to tell my grandkids someday that grandma was all that- once. 4. I had a thing for wild, long haired musicians when I was ‘younger’. 5. I’m a total foodie. I love to cook, bake, or eat out. Especially sweets. Shocker, I know. 6. I married a short haired, conservative business man who doesn’t eat sweets, dislikes anything to do with food preparation, and hates eating out. I know, right? 7. I love country, classical, and hard rock music. Not all at once. 8. I’ve worked as a pizza maker, preschool teacher, secretary, accountant, undercover shopper, real estate appraiser, mortgage banker, and elementary school teacher, but my favorite job is my current one- mom. 9. I have an unusual obsession with flip-flops. 34 pairs might seem a bit excessive, ok it is, but I’ve had foot problems for decades, and now, thanks to a surgery that was supposed to make it better, but only made it worse, every step I take brings me pain, or, at best, discomfort. And wearing closed toe shoes gives me the sensation that I have a wadded up sock under my foot.. The only time you’ll see me wearing them is when I run every day at the gym, and the occasional ‘dinner shoes’ that I’ll wear to dress up in- from the car, to the table, then back to the car. One brand of flip flops offers me temporary relief from the pain. Sanuks keep me sane! But a girl’s gotta ‘dress up’ sometimes, so there’s the blingy ones too…and sporty, and casual, and …..do you know how hard it is to make a pair of flip flops work with just about everything you wear?? It guides my entire fashion style… I used to dress really nice. I swear. And I wish I still could. But pain wins out. 10. At 52, after trying so hard to be healthy- I’m talking low cal foods and lite beer, being active, and doing without some things he loved, my dad died in a car accident when I was 23. That shaped my attitude toward life. I want to be healthy and in shape, but I refuse to deny myself the things I love. It’s all about moderation and balance, and being content with imperfection. You can go any day, no warning. Live well. *I thought about saying something about how much I love my incredible kids, but if you are my facebook friend, you probably already know that.
