THE AMERICAN MUSLIMI NB: This piece has no intention whatsoever or aims at ridiculing my peace loving people of the Islamic faith but rather to expose the hypocrisy of people who claim to believe in a philosophy, doctrine or an ideology but fail to abide by it constituents) I have a friend who is known to be an extreme holder (loyal) of the Islamic faith. He nearly converted me from Christianity to Islam because of his high moral standards and strict adherence to the Hadiths and the Sunnah of the Holy Quran. He is currently in Ghana after a 5-year stay in the Obamaland. I noticed some weird changes in him. I know you are thinking of the skin changes, the acquired accent(American slangs) and the walking. Far from these Americanized changes, he is not the devout Muslim he used to be. He is now an ardent fan of Brandies, Whiskies and French Wines. What made me staggered back is when he asked me if I know any Pork Show joint around. Instead of answering him, I asked, My dear friend, when did you learn all these things? Are you not a Muslim anymore? Or Islam now permits the eating of forbidden meats like pork? To my outmost surprise, he said Allan, I am not an ordinary Muslim but an AMERICAN MUSLIMI. In America, Muslims forbid nothing. Most people have failed to live by their own principles and ideologies: ideologies they have fought for with their lives. Some have sorrounded themselves with both flimsy and well-created excuses to diffuse actions against their own principles. In Christianity, church doctrines regulate lives of members. Doctrines have differed in different denominations, fighting against the core ideologies of the faith. Mahatma Ghandi, a Hindu activist was right when he said Jesus Christ was a good man. He lived a life worthy of emulation. But what I despise most are the Christians, they dont live like Jesus Christ did.Mahatma Ghandis words paints the picture very clearly: failing to live by principles. Every teacher claims to be a good student during his school days. Some teachers always put pressure on their pupils to read their notebooks but they themselves hardly read. Some teachers hardly forgive their students when found stealing during exams but they (teachers) are worst culprits in their own shelves. They are always caught stealing in their Sandwich or distance learning examinations. Some teachers lead their students to exams centres and employ all ill-advised means to get their students pass the exams with ease. They have diverted from the core values of the profession. Politicians are worst culprits. The very ones known for high moral standards tend to throw away their hard won intergrity all in the name of winning power. If I am given the mandate as the President of Ghana, I will reduce fuel prices drastically. He was noted to be the most religious and humble President in the history of Ghana but was webbed in all sort of hypocrisy and lies. They will tell you its the nature of the game. Games do not control our personal principles neither do they toggle our integrity. Let us not live our lives like the American Muslimi who had thrown out his beliefs because he found himself in a different setting. We are who we are no matter where we found ourselves.Dont tell me If you go to Rome you do what Romans do. You were named Bosomefi but your stay in London made you change your name to Bosomfield.
