THE BOOK OF ROMANS Monday – July 29, 2013 – Romans 11:33-36 “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counseller? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” This might be called the ‘doxology’ of Chapter 11. The closing prayer or song of Paul. It makes me glad that Paul mentioned in the very first chapter of this book that ‘the just shall live by faith’. Faith believes what God says, because God says it. Faith takes God at His Word because His Word is truth. The depths of the riches of the wisdom of God are incredibly deep. The depths of the riches of the knowledge of God are unbelievably deep. His judgments are unsearcheable and His ways are beyond our understanding. Isaiah 55:9 says, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts”. Who hath known the mind of the Lord? Even the prophet Isaiah, some 700 years before Christ, wrote in Isaiah 40:13-14, “Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being His counselor hath taught Him? With whom took He counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of judgment, and taught Him knowledge, and shewed to Him the way of understanding?” No one can lay claim to that position, none can claim to have been God’s teacher, and with all of man’s wisdom and education he cannot hold a candle to the wisdom and understanding of God. All of man’s efforts to disprove God are futile and a waste of time, for even if they were able to convince themselves that God does not exist, one day they will stand before Him and learn that He does exist. As you have seen me say before, I would rather live a life believing that God does exist and find out that I am wrong, than to live a life believing that God does not exist and find out that I am wrong. Man cannot understand how God separates the man from the sin. How can God love a man who lives a sinful life? How could God even consider sacrificing His Son at Calvary for people who were not yet born, and would be born in sin, and would live lives of sin? Man cannot comprehend the omniscience of God, the capacity of God’s knowledge. Try to explain how God has always been and always will be, and the mind of man stumbles. We know beginnings, we know endings, we do not really know ‘forever’. Man tries to explain away God by saying a loving God would not allow some of the things that go on in our world. One of the wonderful proofs of God’s love is our freedom of choice. We choose our actions, and sometimes they result in fatalities, illnesses, and injuries, sometimes involving His people. When our leaders choose not to follow the supremacy of God’s leadership, they make poor decisions and the results are far reaching. God will not force man to love Him, for there is no love in that, only obedience. God will not force man to live a certain way, ignorant of options, for there is no love in that, only obedience. God will not even force man to believe in Him, but know this, “.. of him, and through him, and to him, are all things”. Nothing that the eye of man has seen, nor the mind of man has imagined, exists without God. Colossians 1:16, “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him”. The greatest inventions of man pale in comparison to the creation of God. Paul closes his ‘doxology’ with, “to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” Closing out chapter 11 with an acknowledgment that all is for the glory of God, Amen. Explain Him away if you wish. Do not believe in Him if that is what you choose, for God gave you that right to choose. When you stand before Him on that fateful day, it will be too late to change your mind. My prayer for today- To God be the glory, great things He hath done. In all of His wisdom, in all of His knowledge, in all of His power, He chooses to love me, and I choose to love Him back. For these daily devotions/studies to truly apply to your life, you must first belong to God. He will welcome you because He loves you, even before you love Him. He loves you so much that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Scripture tells us that if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation, (Romans 10:9-10). Won’t you confess today and ask Jesus to forgive your sins and be your Savior? He is waiting with open arms…
