THE COMPANY WE KEEP Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are. Psalm 1:1-2, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night”. Every relationship you keep will either affect you for good or for bad. There is no neutral relationship just as there is no neutral kingdom. In any gathering of people, there are those who will add to your life and multiply your life. There are also those who will subtract from your life and divide your life. Think for a moment about the relationships you have kept in the past and ask yourself if those relationships encouraged you in your spiritual walk with the Lord. The Bible advises us to keep the company of good people who will encourage us to grow in faith. Your life, joy, comfort, in fact, your future, depends on the company you keep. When you move with the wise, you become wise. Therefore, when you make friends, don’t be too quick to trust them until they have proved themselves. Be sure that those in whom you trust are led by God each day. You are what you are today because of the company you keep. Let us choose our friends with care because we may become what they are. Prayer: Help me, Oh Lord, to turn away from that which has the power to turn me away from You.
