THE CONVEYOR BELT MOTORS ON! More Juniors Bursting Onto the Seniors Every week it seems that yet another junior off the current conveyor belt that is the Junior Development Section, busts onto the scene. The weekend was no exception. With the 1 St Team coming out with a winning draw, star performance of the week must be 13 year Lewis Dove making his 1 st Team Bowling debut and returning simply stunning figures of 19 overs 1 maiden 3 for 81. An unbelievable return for a 13 year old, in such a very high standard of senior cricket. Next must be Jack Lancelot with his bowling for the 2 nd Team. They stormed back to winning ways on Saturday with a 9 wicket win over Lytham. Junior Jack produced an immaculate spell of 11 overs 1 maiden 4 for 40.. Jack has matured beyond recognition this year and is simply a joy to watch. Skipper Martyn `Roger` Glover chipping in with 3 for 12 as well. In reply to Lytham’s 167 it was veteran Tim McKiernan leading the way with a back and muscle testing 98, proving class is permanent along the way! But again, it was a junior prodigy that raised the eyebrows with Lewis Bailey very calmly and with a sense of maturity way beyond his years returning with an unbeaten 42. Leigh CC is very proud of all the current crop of juniors, many of which continue to represent at County and District level. DC 28.07.14
