THE DREAM TEAM “YOUTH, EXPERIENCE AND DIVERSITY” -Sheku Abes Kamara, LLB (HONS) LAW Greetings to All, I intend to contest for the position as chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC) UK & Northern Ireland political party branch because the past years have been hectic, and we now need a change for the better. There are inexplicable issues within the UK branch since the inception of the penultimate administration. These issues are the prescriptions for effective transformation. Some attempts were made in the past to unseat the outgoing administration, which is notably not fit for purpose and lacks the vision 0f a prosperous political branch. It shows how diabolical the situation has been. The current state of play is in itself the medication and product of political necessity of change and transparency. I have discovered a new strength and pride. I am no doubt in readiness to foster a new spirit of unity and peace amongst youth and experience for the common good of our branch. I am dedicated to rise to new challenges here and abroad. My intentions are very explicit and direct. We must together strive to be inspired by the deep seated love of our branch without regards to tribe, religion and gender. Our values and ideals are the cornerstone of a sustainable peace, which is why I believe in working in unison and putting merit before privilege. Together we can change our political branch for the better. Therefore, our social fabric must not be ruined by the impediments of the past. My team and I are taking the initiative to rebrand the APC UK & Northern Ireland political branch. Furthermore, my dream team is determined to take this new path to prosperity, building a better and formidable relationship between our branch and regions, and the national party. This could only be achieved if the voices of our astute members are heard through the effective mechanisms that will be put in place by my administration that will no doubt be disseminating information in timely manners to our intended recipients. Our members should be assured with the protection of a vibrant and strong leader, but with a heart of gold and charisma that would appeal to the general populace, which will no doubt increase the memberships from its current abysmal state to 100%. I have a phenomenal record. In my capacity as the outgoing legal adviser and the custodian of our UK & Northern Ireland Bye-Laws, I tenaciously and robustly contributed to prevent a faction within our political branch from unseating an administration (Mrs. Alice Kumba Momoh’s) that was and is still in subsistence. Furthermore, in my capacity, I spearheaded a body that amended our bye-laws with some stringent financial probity and performance clauses, which clearly brought some sanity and integrity into the system. Our political branch has come right by its own efforts. I trust the character and talents of our members. Our members’ instinct and sense of belonging is for choice and independence. Given the opportunities that will be provided by my leadership, there is no doubt we are destined to be onboard a sustainable vehicle of prosperity. A testimony of my capacity is indicative within the UK community, as some Sierra Leoneans and other nationals in this country are evidently enjoying the pride and deep sense of unity brought by some of my initiatives and outstanding contributions. I hope that these contributions have impressed a great number of people in the UK. This manifesto sets out our vision for the UK branch of 2013 and beyond, a future based on the aspirations of dedicated members, their hopes, their expectations, their integrity and their security of peace. For the very first time in the history of our branch, people who were not interested in politics are exhibiting their wholehearted supports and interests in partaking in the political process of our nation. This has no doubt profoundly encouraged me to earnestly shoulder the responsibility of upholding the values of our political branch. It is clearly so that some of the opposition party members have religiously declaring their interests in joining our party because of the trust they have in my ability and capacity to transform the UK political branch, and look forward to an era of real prosperity and fulfillment. I have made a promise to serve this branch with absolute loyalty and be faithful and truthful at all times. If elected I promise to work earnestly to the best of my knowledge and ability to ensure that the agenda for prosperity is advanced fully to the spirit and wishes of our venerable president. Together we can build a better UK branch of free, prosperous, transparent and responsible members. With the face lift of the UK branch, our dream is at last becoming a reality. Promises: 1. Job opportunities for members - This could be achieved through persistent and regular consultations with the government of Sierra Leone and by using various media outlets, and by creating a bi-lateral forum for jobs specifically for Sierra Leoneans living in the UK, and also by working in tandem with Diaspora secretariat in Sierra Leone. 2. Unity in diversity - Creation of programs and events that promote harmony and solidarity including religious rooms for Muslim and Christian prayers. 3. A system of transparency and accountability – Robustly fighting against corruption and malpractices within the UK branch in accordance with the president’s agenda for prosperity by introducing a proper and effective system that would combat anomalies. 4. Diasporans Right to vote in our national election - This is the right not choice by virtue of the principles enshrined in the 1991 constitution of Sierra Leone. 5. Air fares to Sierra Leone – Lobby to influence the government to look into the issues relating to the unprecedented increase in air fare to Sierra Leone. 6. Ban on Right hand Drive Vehicles- Lobby to influence the government to revisit the legislation preventing exportation of right hand vehicle to Sierra Leone. 7. To establish a secretariat - A fully rebranded APC-UK&NI branch that can be accessible to all including :- a. Membership drives of this branch in collaboration with other sub-branches in the UK & NI. b. Organising twice every year an APC ‘recruitment day’ in the UK. 8. Restoring pride and integrity -by appointing a team of competent executive with a mixture of youth and experience. 9. A Singular vehicle for social mobility - upholding the values of all the branches in the Diaspora and to effectively communicate policies and issues of concerns that notably affect members in the Diaspora. 10. Access to the president –My leadership will create a climate to ensure that the president is accessible to members of the branch and not only to the selected. 11. Democracy in decision making - create a deep sense of belonging and a proper platform of political harmony for the advancement of the agenda for prosperity.
