THE GOD OF THE LIVING Matthew 22 One day, before we know it, and - TopicsExpress

THE GOD OF THE LIVING Matthew 22 One day, before we know it, and in some cases quite suddenly, we may find ourselves in the presence of God. As you get older, you tend to think more about death, but there are times when there is no warning. The bottom line is, as Christians we need to be prepared, because heaven is a prepared place for prepared people. PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES 1. Everyone is immortal. What we need to be concerned with is where we are going to live forever. There are only two options: heaven or hell. When you put your faith in Christ, you are guaranteed heaven. 2. There is a bodily resurrection. You will be you in heaven, and you will have the same thoughts, same feelings, and same desires—but they will all be perfected. And you will have a perfected body as well. 3. In heaven, things will be different and similar, but certainly better. We sometimes wonder what our relationships will be like in heaven, or worry that they won’t be the same. Keep in mind that you will know far more in heaven than you do on earth, and your heavenly relationships will surpass anything you’ve experienced here on earth. RELEVANT REMINDERS • In heaven, we will recognize, reconnect, and be reunited with people and loved ones from the past. In fact, our relationships will be stronger than they were before. • God knows that, as humans, we desire companionship. Our relationships on earth are preparing us for our ultimate relationship; and that is our marriage with Christ. • When Christians die, they go straight to heaven—no stopovers. The moment you take your last breath on earth, you take your first breath in heaven, and you will be in the presence of God. • The resurrection body will not be the earthly body merely resurrected, but the likeness of the earthly body glorified. There will be a definite relationship to the earthly body, but it will be transformed to suit a new environment. APPLICABLE ACTIONS We must look back at the cross and remember all that Jesus has gone through. We must look at ourselves, and see if there is anything that displeases God, and then get rid of it. You must look around at the people you are with, knowing that, if they are Christians, in the end you will be reunited with them again. Lastly, you must look ahead; live your life as if it were your last, because you never know when it will be your time to enter eternity.
