THE HISTORY OF RUMUEPIRIKOM CLAN AS WAS TOLD BY LATE CHIEF FRANK OWABIE (EPIRIKOM THE IV)1850 - 1984 The man called Obio was born in the 14th century about 600 years ago, Obio had two sons who survived him, namely Evo and Apara in their order of seniority. Apara had nine legitimate sons who in their turns had many children and founded for themselves communities which have grown from family status to villages and some to towns. Below is the list of the names of the sons of Apara, in their order of seniority. The nine sons of Apara are: NAMES VILLAGE/TOWN 1. IGBO RUMUIGBO 2. EPIRIKOM RUMUEPIRIKOM 3. ENEKE ENEKE 4. ADAOLU RUMUADAOLU 5. OROSI RUMUOROSI 6. NKPOKWU RUKPOKWU 7. OLA RUMUOLA 8. OKWUTA RUMUOKWUTA 9. REBISI RUMUREBISI The man Epirikom married from Isiokpo and had many children among whom was Ozuruha his first son. The Rumueme people came from Isiokpo to Rumuepirikom on the invitation of Ozuruha, for the sole purpose of waging war against Irenta, Ozuruha’s enemy. The man Ozuruha and his brothers and a sister had a neighbour whose name was Irenta, who out of provocation arising from misunderstanding, besieged the compound of Ozuruha with his men and before Ozuruha could understand what was happening, his enemies had succeeded in setting his compound on fire, killing nearly all the members of his house hold including his only sister who was expecting a baby. it was in the heat of the war that Ozuruha escaped with his only surviving sons – Owabie, Ekpo–dota, and Wike to Isiokpo, his mother’s home place, to request for war – men who could help him defeat his enemies. His mother’s kingmen, Isiokpo dispatched a contingent of warriors selected from the groups of family namely: 1 Ebara which was the birth place of Ozuruha’s mother. 2 Nkaraohia and Ogbodo, to accompany Ozuruha and his children back to Rumuepirikom with an order never to return to Isiokpo until they had Eliminated Irenta and all his kinsfolk from the surface of the earth.
