THE LORD IS OUR ROCKEvangeline Paul Dhinakaran I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:8) The Dhinakarans Dearly beloved, The Lord is our eternal Rock. The Israelites used to hide themselves in the caves whenever enemies came against them. Recently when we had been to Israel, we were amazed to see caves in the rocks! They are so deep and long that the other end could not be seen however keenly we look at them. People used to run into those caves and hide themselves. David too hid himself in such a cave when his enemies came against him. That’s why he says, “He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken” (Psalm 62:6). When you are in the Lord, the Rock, no devil or man can move you. He will protect you and satisfy you with His goodness. He will give you the honey from the rock. You shall eat in plenty and be blessed! When we read Matthew 15:32-38, we see Lord Jesus being moved with compassion on looking at the multitude of people who had thronged to listen to His message in the wilderness. He called his disciples to Him and said, I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way. His disciples answered, Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd? Man raises such questions. But Lord Jesus asked them, How many loaves do you have? Seven, they replied, and a few small fish. He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then He took the seven loaves and the fish, and when He had given thanks, He broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. They all ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was four thousand, besides women and children. Yes, they all ate and were filled. This is the blessing that the Lord is going to give you. He will satisfy you with the honey from the rock. Dear ones, the Lord calls those things which do not exist as though they did (Romans 4:17). Perhaps you may say, “I don’t have this; I don’t have that…” Or you may lament, “I have debts to the tune of lakhs; how can I repay it?” But the Lord tells you, “I will not allow you to go hungry or be in debt with no money in hand. I pity you, My child. I will bless you to the full.” The Psalmist says, “I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken” (Psalm 16:8). The Lord is our Rock. When you always fix your eyes on Him, He will stand beside you as your support. Then nothing can shake you.
