THE LOVE OF CHRIST Herein is love, not that we loved God, but - TopicsExpress

THE LOVE OF CHRIST Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (I John 4:10). The Divine love of God was in Christ, before He created the world. His love was towards us in the first place, so we can love God and one another by His Spirit that dwells in us. Gods love is restrict to them whom He chose in Christ, and that He loves them with an everlasting love. God does not love His people because they love Him. No, we read that God loved us even when we were dead in sins. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) (Ephesians 2:4-5). When we had no desire to be loved by Him. God loved His people before they had a historical existence. For while they were sinners, Christ died for them. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). WHY? He declares, The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee (Jeremiah 31:3). That love then derives not its strength or its streams from anything in us, but flows from the Son of God, finding its deep wellspring within its own bosom. Since God is Love He can no more cease to love than He can cease to be. And since God changes not, there can not be any variation in His Love. For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed (Malachi 3:6). The object of Gods love is His people. His special delight. From all eternity He loved His elect, and loved them as His elect. He loved them in Christ, chose them in Christ, and blessed them with all spiritual blessings in Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: (Ephesians 1:3). He loved them so, as to predestinate them unto the adoption of children in Christ. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, (Ephesians 1:5). He loved their persons in Christ with the same love He loves Christ, as their Head. I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. (John 17:23). He loved them so as to make them accepted in the beloved. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved (Ephesians 1:6). It is a love that can never decay, it is found on the good pleasure of His will towards them. Gods love to Christ knows no change to the members of His body, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me declares the Saviour. And He is speaking there as the head of His Church. We are loved in Christ. Had Gods love been set upon us because of some good things or excellency in us, then when that goodness declined, his love would diminish too. God foresaw all the sins you would ever have. It was all present to His sacred mind, and yet He loved you, and loves you still. Divine love is always the same. If God has ever loved you, He does so today. Loves you with the same love as when He sent His Son to die for you. Loves you with the same love as He will in Heaven, throughout the endless ages. And nothing can or shall separate you from that love. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail (Psalm 89:33). Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus (II Timothy 1:13) https://facebook/groups/1610832099144591/
