THE LUKEWARM CHURCH - PART 28 * LUKEWARM ABOUT WORSHIP (CONTINUATION) (2) IN PRAYER JESUS CHRIST TAUGHT TO WORSHIP (a) So He said to them, "When you pray, say: Our Father in Heaven, HALLOWED be Your name (Luke 11vs2a). (b) Before we petition Him we should WORSHIP HIM. WORSHIP NOT BECAUSE OF WHAT HE CAN DO FOR US, BUT WHO HE IS. THE PURPOSE OF WORSHIP WHY DO WE WORSHIP? * Because of Who He is: Creator. He is worthy of our worship because of His transcendence, uniqueness and holiness. * For what He has done for us. He created us, therefore we worship Him. He saves us, therefore we worship. * To obey the will of our Heavenly Father. John 4vs23-24: "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." The Father is seeking such (true worshipers who worship in spirit and truth) to worship Him. * To bless and honor God. Worship is not for us, but a selfless attitude and act toward God. It is for Him that we worship, we are not the beneficiaries of worship. We should not be lukewarm about worship. Our motivation for worship should be higher than that. TRUE WORSHIP IS NOT SELF-SERVING OR SELF-CENTERED. .....TO BE CONTINUED.
