THE NIGER-DELTANS & RESPECT FOR OUR LEADERS I believe one can - TopicsExpress

THE NIGER-DELTANS & RESPECT FOR OUR LEADERS I believe one can criticize leaders without insulting them. It would appear that the Niger-Deltans have less regards for their own leaders than people from other parts of the country. In 1999 general elections, President Olusegun Obasanjo had practically no support from the Yorubas but 2003 when push came to shove the Yorubas collapsed all their structures & supported his re-election. Despite the shortcomings of his administration, the Yorubas inspite of their political sophistication did not subject the man was not subjectto the kind of insults & ridicule we the Niger-Deltans subjects Dr Goodluck Jonathan to. It is also known that Late Alhaji Umaru Yaradua was not the favorite of the Northerns for the Presidency but when he assumed office, the man had the support of his people without these insults & ridicule. While the government of Dr Goodluck Jonathan has a lot of challenges, the least we as Niger-Deltans can do is to support one of our own when we know what the reasons for these are attacks. May the souls of the bomb blast victims of yesterday rest in peace.
