THE POSITION OF WOMEN IN THE PERIOD BEFORE ISLA. During the Ajahiliya period, that was the period before islam, when the the Arabs were in their utter Barbarism and uncivilized behaviours, women were subjected to all forms of worship and affront. They were in real inclemency of men. They had suffered alot. They had no right to inheritance, they had no any right upon their husbands. There was no restricted unmber for divorce. There was no limit for the number of wives one could marry. One could marry as many as he wished. They had no right to choose their husbands. If a man died, his most senior son had the right to inherit the wives of his father apart from his mother just like a property. Waiyazubillah. If a man was informed of getting female child, he would be sorrowful and grieved, for women were considered as the source of foreshadow and bad lucuk, that was why infanticide was committed then. The Holy Quran has attested to this. Almighty Allah says: when news is brought to one of them of the birth of a female child his face darknes and he is filled with inward grief. With shame does he hide himself from his people, because of the bad new he has heard, or shall he retain it on suffering and contempt or bury it in the dust.(Quran 16:58). But when the islam come i.e the coming of the prophet muhammad(s a w) has gave woman to choice there husban, and also gave them right to live without any fear. But nowadays woman are nagletate the all teaching of islam, plr my sisters fear Allah.
