THE PRIESTESS WALKS ALONE, FEATURE LENGTH DOCUMENTARY, RECEIVES TOP FUNDING SUPPORT FROM 2014 ASIAN CINEMA FUND The Priestess Walks Alone, a feature length documentary film currently in production in Taiwan, receives cash grant in the amount of KRW 5,000,000 (approximately $300,000 NT) from the Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund, awarded by Asian Cinema Fund (ACF). The film is the only Taiwanese film to receive funding from ACF this year, and one of three films to receive the top prize of KRW 5,000,000. The Priestess Walks Alone, a film about finding love and learning to forgive, began production in February 2014. The production team consists of Taiwanese director Huizhen Huang, Taiwanese American producer Diana Chiawen Lee, and Taiwanese cinematographer Ting-Chieh Lin, as well as two interns Wei-huan Hsu, and Wei-hua Tu. It is the recipient of the 2012 Best Pitch Award at the annual CNEX Chinese Documentary Forum in Taipei, and received funding support from the Taiwan Cultural Foundation in 2013. “Stories by, from, or about children of LGBT parents are rarely if ever told. It is even more rare to hear our stories in Taiwan. I’m very proud to be the offspring of a lesbian mom. I am also very thankful for the support from ACF in order for us to tell this honest, nuanced, and much needed story,” says director Huizhen Huang. “We are very proud to be the only Taiwanese project to receive funding from such a prestigious and competitive program. Additionally, we look forward to exchange with and learn from fellow documentary filmmakers from other Asian countries in October, during the AND clinics and at one-on-one meetings. We are grateful to ACF for giving us this opportunity and for their vote of confidence and support in our film,” says producer Diana Chiawen Lee.
