THE RESORT AT HODGES BAY GROUND-BREAKING CEREMONY MARKS ADDITION OF NEW ULTRA-EXCLUSIVE BEACH FRONT RESORT TO ANTIGUAS HOTEL PORTFOLIO DECEMBER 4, 2014 - Remarks made by the Honorable Asot A. Michael at the ground breaking ceremony of The Resort at Hodges Bay I am most delighted to be here today at The Resort at Hodges Bay because this ultra-exclusive beachfront resort is poised to assume iconic status as a flagship tourism development for our country. The development is being realized through the investment of JSN Holding working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and our government. I am proud to say that what we are witnessing is a stellar manifestation of confidence by the developers in the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda. This multimillion dollar development is designed to bring our country right back to the forefront of contemporary luxury, not just in the Caribbean but throughout the world. The Resort at Hodges Bay is an exciting, integrated facility that will offer luxurious hotel and residential accommodations, inventive dining options and extensive leisure facilities. Their signature spa is designed to be the most elaborate in all Antigua and will complement the resort’s 79 hotel suites. The same can be said for the restaurants, the bars, the wine boutique, the tennis courts, the fitness center and the water sports amenities, set on one of our fabled coral sand beaches. I am particularly gratified by the economic impact The Resort at Hodges Bay will have on our local economy during construction. This new resort facility will provide meaningful employment to as many as 150 persons at any given time and possibly upwards of 200 when all phases of the development are completed. I therefore wish again to commend JSN Holding on their valuable contribution to our country’s development. My Government and the Ministry of Tourism, pledges its fullest cooperation in working with your management to ensure the success of this venture.
