THE SECOND REJECTION The next stop for karuri was at his maternal grandparents home gitugu village.The old man gitonga wa migwi was hated in equal measure as he was also an expert in witchcraft. A lady in the village murikira wa kimando lost her eyesight and all fingers were pointed to karuri.He was accused of being the bad omen .A Plot was raid to eliminate him. He was to be placed in a beehive and the hive was to be rolled towards mukungai river.Karuri escarped on eve of these day and ran towards nyandarua forest where very few people inhabited. On his way at kanyenyaini,He met a girl nduta daughter of mugo –a desendant and grandchild of legendary prophet mugo wa kibiru and eloped with her to tuthu.A very cold village.Tuthu could not support maize farming. On arrival at, the family of mugane allocated him a plot to till and built a hut for his family.Karuri started harassing mugane,s family despite their generosity. The family had no alternative but to free towards maasai land and finally settled there. These are the grandfathers of first attorney general of Kenya Charles njonjo. Charles later come to tuthu and purchased a piece of land. Marriage of Nduta and Gakure brought forth Gakure,wangari, kigumi ,wairegi,gitonga and many more.Gakure was later baptized David but the locals corrupted his name to dauti.He was tall, brown and very handsome. He was a good dancer and a Casanova. Due to his light complexity, the locals called him chotara a kikuyu word for half caste.Wairegi is the father of business magnate Karuri wairegi founder of gateway insurance company -one of the largest insurance firms in Kenya .He is named after the legendary king. Wangari children includes the first wife of the late kamau kirima.It seems karuri gakure had unique genes as Prosperity of kirima was contributed by the first wife.Karuri was an entrepreneur at heart and made lemonade from lemons.He started poisoning elephants and gorging out there tusks.Caravans of men carrying ivory to Nairobi started.Karuri had several stop overs and was greatly feared.One place was koimbi along his murang’a route.A man by the name Makeri wa muchiri was his agemate and they belonged to the same ageset.Makeri was a polygamist and his ngatha was childless.The ngathas name was wangu and among the kikuyus wife swapping was allowed.Karuri was entertained by wangu and they could spend a night together.That was murang’a route.The other route to Nairobi was by crossing over nyandarua forest then to naivasha where he could take train to Nairobi.Other times he could crose over ridges though ichichi kangari to kiambu and arrive at Nairobi.He used to stop at another trader home kinyanjui gathirimu where they could exchange notes. The town Karuri in modern day kiambu derive the name from Karuri gakure .Kinyanjui prayed a very crucial role in life of karuri and the decision the two made still affect all Kenya generations…………………………………T o be continued
