THE TITLE IS FOR @ZPCKARIBAFC, SAYS LIMITED CHIKAFA WRITTEN BY @GMATARUTSE PUBLISHED BY @DAILYNEWSZIM HARARE - ZPC Kariba forward Limited Chikafa says the destiny of the 2014 Castle Premiership title is now firmly in their hands after they beat their closest rivals Dynamos over the weekend. The Zimbabwe Power Company-owned side, who are in the hunt for the league title in their maiden year in the Premiership, rallied from behind on Saturday to beat Dynamos 2-1 and shoot to the top of the table. Saul Chaminuka’s men now enjoy a two- point lead at the top of the table and need at least a draw in their last game of the season against CAPS United. Not many people expected ZPC Kariba to emerge out of the National Sports Stadium with maximum points but the league debutants prevailed courtesy of goals from Chikafa and Tsepo Ranthokoane to cancel out Anesu Gondo’s first half header. Chikafa is however, well aware that no title is secure until the trophy is lifted is and knows they need to get a result against his former side Makepekepe. “Our match against Dynamos was an important game especially in deciding the championship destiny and we needed to win at all costs which is exactly what we did,” Chikafa told the Daily News. “Today’s match was tougher than the match we will face against CAPS United. No one has really given us a chance but we have beaten Dynamos twice and we are now one game to becoming champions. “My loyalty obviously lies with ZPC. Playing CAPS will be like any other game. “Our aim at the beginning of the season was to survive relegation and now that we have surpassed the expectations we are going for the title. With one game to go I think we are almost there. “We are at the top of the log and I think the title is now ours to lose. “But there are a lot of warnings in football. If you take your foot off the pedal, you can get a real kick in the teeth. But in truth we do not need to look at anyone, we can look at ourselves.” The Premiership’s new boys might not be the team many were expecting to mount a seriously title challenge but with one game before the season ends Chaminuka’s men ensured they go into the last match of the season with one hand firmly hold onto the title. Just like last season, the Glamour Boys are now banking on rivals CAPS to do them a huge favour by beating ZPC Kariba while they beat How Mine in their last match. The Green Machine denied Harare City the title last season after holding them to a two-all draw in the last match to lift third straight title having beaten Black Mambas 2-0 across town. Dynamos, City and Highlanders all finished the season tied on 54 points, but the Glamour Boys won the title on goal difference. Meanwhile, Chaminuka believes his team’s fairy tale run which sees them on the threshold of landing the league title on the first attempt had divinity written all over it. “I am a believer. I constantly kneel down and pray to God because this is a God given talent,” he said. “I wish that my God is with me and my boys do what they have been doing and we win that game if we win that game then it means we will be champions. “I don’t know how to say how happy I am because what it means is that we are left with one game to win the league in only our first season in the Premiership.”
