THE ULTIMATE INVESTOR I once visited with the Presiding Bishop - TopicsExpress

THE ULTIMATE INVESTOR I once visited with the Presiding Bishop and Founder of a global pentecostal ministry. During lunch, he casually informed me that one of his Resident Pastors, a devoted cleric with whom I had struck up a cordial acquaintance on my last visit, was currently at the Harvard Business School pursuing an MBA program. “What on earth is a pastor doing an MBA for? Of what relevance is an MBA to the shepherding of God’s flock?” I precociously asked my gracious host. The Bishop gave me an indulgent smile. “Oh, you’d be surprised to learn just how relevant an MBA can be to the Word of God. My ministry is inaugurating its Business Counseling Unit early next year, and so I have decided to deploy a crop of my pastors to various business schools in Britain and the United States, as a necessary prelude for them to anchor the unit. It is my belief that a firm grasp of contemporary business methods will be an indispensable tool to them in the discharge of this duty. I gaped in utter disbelief at the man. But, more was to come. Indeed, I have also introduced a new module called God: The Ultimate Investor, into my Bible School curriculum. I was scandalized! God a businessman! I was totally aghast! As far as I was concerned, the sheer notion of God as a businessperson did not only border on the blasphemous, but was an absolute affront to any known concept that held God in total reverence. Sir, does this not amount to bringing God into the realm of the trivial? I managed to blurt out in incredulity. The Bishop gave me a kind and understanding look. “On the contrary, it makes eminent sense to see God as the ultimate businessman. That was why Jesus declared in the Book of Luke, chapter 19, verse 26; “I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away. After a slight pause, he continued. This, for most people, is one of the strangest verses in the Bible, he said. Permit me to explain. God knows that the one who has more has demonstrated mastery over what he has been given. He will not do business with someone who shows no sign of potential return in investment. In fact, God is the ultimate investor, because He will only invest in those who have demonstrated an ability to handle wisely what He has given them. Suddenly, I gained illumination, and sublime insight into his teaching. Sir, to put it in other words, God is looking for fruitfulness, and when He finds it, He will reward it with more fruit, and finally with much fruit! The Bishop smiled appreciatively at my comprehension. MIND CONDITIONERS. Dr Yomi Garnett Talk Show Host: Dream The Life; Live The Dream.
