THE UNTOLD SUCCESS STORY OF SADA…. PART 1!!! Hi folks, let me first apologize for my unannounced absence and my inability to MUSE last Friday. I took it upon myself to embark on a special trip to the three northern regions to see what the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) was doing to help bridge the wealth gap between the Northern and Southern parts of Ghana since the likes of Manasseh Azure and some of our journalists have made most of us in the south to believe that SADA only plant trees and most of the trees planted were not successful though report from the Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources of UDS stated that 85% of the trees planted by SADA survived. Is it mischief or sheer ignorance??? In order to accelerate the economic development in Ghana’s northern savannah ecological zone, the NDC government established the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), which is working to bridge the gap the northern and southern Ghana. While the number of people living in poverty in southern Ghana decreased by 2.5 million over the past 20years, it increased by almost one million in the northern part of Ghana with the majority of the people living below the poverty line. It will take only a GOVERNMENT WITH VISION LIKE THE GREAT NDC TO PUT IN PLACE MEASURES TO HELP IMPROVE THE LIVES OF OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS UP NORTH SINCE THE NPP GOVERNMENT DID NOT SEE THE NEED TO TAKE A CRITICAL LOOK AT THIS SITUATION. I THINK THE NPP SHOULD EVEN BE ASHAMED TO MENTION THE NAME SADA NOT TO TALK OF GETTING INVOLVED IN ISSUES CONCERNING SADA. THEY DON’T HAVE THE MORAL RIGHT TO. Well, I got to Walewale and saw “SADA MILLENIUM VILLAGES PROJECT” boldly written on a billboard so decided to go find out what it is about. I got to know that SADA in its quest to achieve its goal of bridging the wealth gap between the northern and southern Ghana has won the support of the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) and have contracted Millennium Promise to implement the SADA MILLENIUM VILLAGES PROJECT AND PART ONE OF THIS WRITE UP WILL HIGHLIGHT WHAT THIS PROJECT BY SADA HAS BROUGHT UP FROM JANUARY 1ST, 2013 TILL NOVEMBER 30TH, 2013. SUMMARY OF KEY ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE HEALTH SECTOR FROM JANUARY 1ST, 2013 TILL NOVEMBER 30TH, 2013. RECRUITMENT OF CRITICAL STAFF INCLUDING MIDWIVES, COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSES (CHNs), PHYSICIANS AND HEALTH PROMOTION ASSISTANTS: 63 HEALTH PROFESSIONALS CURRENTLY WORKING AT ESTABLISHED FACILITIES WITH 5 MIDWIVES. NOW, 78% OF HOUSEHOLDS IN THE CLUSTER ARE WITHIN 10KILOMETRES OF A SKILLED HEALTH PROFESSIONAL AND CAN ACCESS MOTOR BIKES, TRICYCLE OR AMBULANCE TO TRANSPORT THEM TO HEALTH CENTRES. 39 COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS TRAINED IN HOUSEHOLD MANAGEMENT OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES (DIARRHEA, MALARIA AND UNDER NUTRITION) WORKING ACROSS EVERY VILLAGE IN THE CLUSTER. COMPLETED REHABILITATION AND RECONSTRUCTION OF 2 HEALTH CENTRES (KUKUA AND KPASENKPE), INCLUDING ADDITION OF MATERNITY WARDS AND REHABILITATION OF STAFF QUARTERS. CONSTRUCTION OF 3 NEW HEALTH POSTS (CHPS) AT JADEMA, DUU AND NABARE HAS BEEN COMPLETED. THE FACILITIES HAVE BEEN EQUIPPED AND RESOURCED WITH MIDWIVES AND COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSES AND ARE ALL FUNCTIONAL AT THE MOMENT. CONSTRUCTION OF MATERNITY WARDS AT ZAMSA, GBEDEMBILISI AND WEISI HEALTH POSTS COMPLETED. A NEW STAFF QUARTERS COMPLETED AT UWASI HEALTH POST. 2 FULLY EQUIPPED AMBULANCES DEPLOYED IN THE CLUSTER, PROVIDING EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE WHERENONE EXISTED IN THE PAST. SADA’S MVP HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEM (COMMCARE) WAS FULLY DEPLOYED THROUGHOUT THE CLUSTER IN MARCH 2013. Folks, I will drop the curtains on PART 1 OF SADA’S UNTOLD SUCCESS STORY here. Please tell Manasseh Azure that INVESTIGATIVE JOUNALISM AIN’T SAME AS “FALSE PROPHETIC JOURNALISM” and you don’t investigate into the activities of an institution by going through a preliminary report of the auditor general which wass yet to receive response from officials. Did Manasseh and those journalists that sit on air and rubbish SADA go to the grounds to check the activities of SADA after citing that report??? Studying preliminary reports and drawing conclusions out of it is called “FALSE PROPHETIC JOURNALISM” and it has nothing to do with investigation. Thank God we know the staff of SADA are not just paid to grow trees but they are paid for working to bridge the wealth gap between the northern and southern part of Ghana. WATCH OUT FOR PART TWO OF THE “UNTOLD SUCCESS STORY OF SADA”. Catch you on the flipside, folks. SCRIBED BY PHREDDY PLIES (JAH BE MA HOMEBOY)
