THE WORLD CUP SHOULD BE ON MERIT – PONGA LIWEWE Renowned soccer analyst Ponga Liwewe tells me that he does not believe that increasing the number of places for African teams at the World Cup will necessarily help African teams do well at the tournament. “My point of view is that if your best five teams struggle to get beyond the first round, then how does increasing the number give you a better opportunity because you looking at lesser quality (of teams) coming into the world cup.”
