THIRD CATEGORY WARNING WARNING ON STRONG WINDS AND ROUGH SEAS Typhoon WUTIP is observed at Latitude 16.7 North; Longitude 111.7 E, at 02:00 pm, 29th September 2013, approximately 1,224 km Northwest of Kudat, Sabah and move Westward with the speed of 15 kmph. In this connection: SECTION A: WARNING FOR PUBLIC I) WARNING ON STRONG WINDS AND ROUGH SEAS (SECOND CATEGORY)-Update Strong Southwesterly winds of 50-60 kmph with waves up to 4.5 metres occurring over the waters Sarawak (Miri), Labuan FT, Sabah (Interior, West Coast & Kudat), Reef South & Phuket are expected to continue until Tuesday, 1st October 2013. This condition of strong winds and rough seas is dangerous to all shipping and coastal activities including fishing and ferry services. II) WARNING ON STRONG WINDS AND ROUGH SEAS (FIRST CATEGORY)-Update Strong Southwesterly winds of 40-50 kmph with waves up to 3.5 metres occurring over the waters off Sarawak (Mukah & Bintulu) & Sulu are expected to continue until Tuesday, 1st October 2013. This condition of strong winds and rough seas is dangerous to small crafts, recreational sea activities and sea sports. III) WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORM WARNING-Update a) Thunderstorm activities occurring over the waters off Sarawak (Miri) are expected to continue until early night, Sunday, 29th September 2013. At the same time, strong winds of 50-60 kmph with waves up to 4.5 metres is dangerous to all shipping and coastal activities including fishing and ferry services. b) Thunderstorm activities occurring over the waters off Langkawi, Perlis, Kedah & Sarawak (Bintulu) are expected to continue until early night, Sunday, 29th September 2013. This condition may cause strong winds up to 50 kmph and rough seas with wave height up to 3.5 metres and dangerous to small boats. SECTION B: WARNING FOR SHIPPING I) WARNING ON STRONG WINDS AND ROUGH SEAS (THIRD CATEGORY) - Upgraded from Second Category Warning issued at 1.40 pm, 17 September 2013. Strong Southwesterly winds over 60 kmph with waves more than 5.5 metres occurring over waters off Condore, Reef North, Layang-Layang & Palawan are expected to continue until Tuesday, 1st October 2013. This condition of strong winds and rough seas is dangerous to all coastal and shipping activities including workers on oil platform. II) WARNING ON STRONG WINDS AND ROUGH SEAS (SECOND CATEGORY)-Update Strong Southwesterly winds of 50-60 kmph with waves up to 4.5 metres occurring over the waters Sarawak (Miri), Labuan FT, Sabah (Interior, West Coast & Kudat), Reef South & Phuket are expected to continue until Tuesday, 1st October 2013.
