THIS IS AN UPDATE TO THE LINKED POST: Response to the comments from my email below: I love how people automatically assume a woman is sleeping with a man because she does a favor for him. Either way, no I am not sleeping with the friend that I rented the car for. Its more of a monetary thing. I stated that if I turned them in that I would not be able to afford the ramifications from this situation. That is the only thing holding me back from singing like a canary in Spring. MY RESPONSE: For the record, I assumed it was man for one reason and one reason only: because there was a high speed chase. Most women are not trying to go out like that but men will take the risk and wild out like that. I could be wrong. With that being said, if you do not tell the police the identity of the friend, you are going to have a lot more to worry about than money issues. Do you not realize how serious of a matter this is? You rented the car, and likely signed something stipulating that you would be the only driver, so as far as they are concerned, you are responsible. Again, someone could have died and they are not going to take this lightly. You know that already because they made that clear. You have a child to think about and if it means learning a hard lesson and having to pay off the rental car company for damages to the car, you need to set up a payment plan and make it happen. Otherwise, this is going to get much worse. I can guarantee you that the problem is not going to go away.
