THIS IS HOW THEY ARE GOING TO RUN THE COUNTRY NOW THAT THEY ARE IN - TopicsExpress

THIS IS HOW THEY ARE GOING TO RUN THE COUNTRY NOW THAT THEY ARE IN CHARGE. THEY ARE NOT HIDING IT. THEY ARE BRAGGING TO EVERYONE THAT THEY ARE NOW IN CHARGE BECAUSE MICHAEL SATA IS NO LONGER IN A POSITION TO DO MUCH WORK. Things are happening very fast. These are times in which events follow one another at great speed. On Sunday, they sent intelligence officers to go and harass, intimidate Fr Richard Luonde over the demands for transparency and accountability he has been making against finance minister Alexander Chikwanda. And yesterday, they went to the Ministry of Justice to search the office where Wynter Kabimba was operating. What were they searching for? This is how they are going to run the country now that they are in charge. They are not hiding it. They are bragging to everyone that they are now in charge because Michael Sata is no longer in a position to do much work. If they were running things the right way, the honest way, the decent way, we would have no, or little, problems with it. But they are not. They don’t even seem to realise that the power that they have obtained from Michael through lies, deceit, manipulation was meant for legitimate and honest purposes. They also don’t seem to realise that the use of power, no matter how one gets it, must be the constant practice of self-limitation and modesty. They shouldn’t forget that one day, they will have to account for the use of this power, for everything they are doing today. The use of the power they hold today has a limited lifespan. They are shaping a type of politics which they themselves will soon be scared of. Today, they are using Michael’s name to do all these things - things which, all things equal, Michael himself would not do. They are, in Michael’s name, doing wrong things which in future they will repudiate and claim they were simply sent to do what they did, and the approval came from the boss. The Zambian people are not fools. Soon, they will realise that what is going on is not in tune with Michael’s values, principles and political practices. Soon, our people will realise that these elements are simply taking advantage of some sad challenges, weaknesses and lapses that have arisen. And when our people realise that, there will be problems. Once the Zambian people realise the truth about how they have manipulated their way into power and how they have been using that power, they will not tolerate it. They will chase them like dogs. It is Michael the Zambian people have faith in. It is Michael the Zambian people love. It is Michael the Zambian people trust. It is Michael the Zambian people elected to be their President, and not them. Trying to usurp power by taking advantage of challenges, weaknesses and lapses won’t do. And with this type of people in charge of government today, we should expect to see more and more of a police state. And how else can they exercise power that is not theirs without resorting to repression, intimidation, harassment or even blackmail? But they shouldn’t cheat themselves that they can crookedly impose their will on this country without being challenged. They can push far all the honest people that were around Michael, but that will not give them dominion over this country. It may give them opportunities to steal, to loot but not total control over the destiny of this country. That was given to Michael, not them. If, for any reason, Michael cannot fully exercise his powers, the most that can be done is to give that power back where it belongs - to the people. Life has taught us many things, and this is what nurtures our faith in the people. Real power belongs to the people, and not to anyone else no matter how manipulative or crooked they are. We must nurture values. There is no alternative; authentic values are those practiced in the greatest freedom. Virtue is cultivated in the struggle against vice. And every challenge, crisis, problem introduces a person to himself. How one proceeds is of ultimate importance. The way we look at challenges, crises, makes all the difference. There are people who think everything can be addressed with money, but the correct perspective is to know that anything that can be addressed with money is really nothing but an expense. In issues like these, one doesn’t have a challenge, a problem; one has a choice. Expecting this corrupt and tribalistic clique to do things the right way, the honest way, is a little like expecting a bull not to attack you because you are vegetarian. Selfishness ends in self-destruction. Soon, it will become clear why they did everything to get Wynter out of their way. This was not about Wynter. It was about what he stood for and against. It was about them getting control of Michael in the full belief that he is not in total control of things. And if they get all the honest people around him out of the way, everything will go their way, will be theirs. Today, they think everything is theirs. This is what they are celebrating. It is not Wynter’s departure they are celebrating; they are celebrating over what they have gained - power and all that it enables them to do. You have listened to their charges against Wynter. Is there really anything that makes sense? They have nothing. And because they have nothing, they have to create something artificial, imaginary against him. Pretext will always be found for them to carry out their evil schemes. These are people who can plant things on Wynter and then come to accuse him of wrongdoing. This is how desperate they are. This is what selfish people do. But when a man is wrapped up in himself, he makes a pretty small package. A man who lives for himself is a failure. Even if he gains much wealth, power or position, he is still a failure. God has called us to serve those whom we lead, without trying to reap the benefits. But what they don’t realise is that one doesn’t drown by falling from the boat or the canoe into the water; one drowns by staying in the water. We need to die to ourselves every day. They will blame everything that has gone wrong or is not working in the Patriotic Front and its government on Wynter. We should expect all sorts of promises from them. All men are alike in their promises. It is only in their deeds that they differ. And the most insignificant people are those most apt to sneer at others. They are safe from reprisals, and have no hope of rising in their own esteem but by lowering others. Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.postzambia/news.php?id=1127
