THIS is why it is APPALLING that moon rocks, the samples brought back from the moon by astronauts in the Apollo program, were willy nilly given as cool gifts to world leaders, stolen, bought and sold, and otherwise improperly handled. This important research was done recently on moon rocks. ALL of the moon rocks EVER brought back on Apollo should NEVER have left the confines of the best possible curatorial facility. The only movement of those rocks should have been to share the samples with legitimate scientific institutions that would also care for them properly. I have no idea what percentage of geological samples form the moon have been misused or lost, but anything more than zero is unacceptable.
