THREE FEET FOR PETE! Saturday, September 6th, 2014 at 7:00 am Day of registration opens at 6:00am. All participants must fill out a waiver and check in. Location: Camping World 13175 Las Vegas Blvd. South Las Vegas, NV 89044 Registration and Expo Area at Camping World; West parking lot On June 19th, our good friend and teammate Pete Makowski lost his life while riding his bike here in Southern Nevada. Pete was a phenomenal athlete, but he was also well known as a very conscientious and safe rider; often going miles out of his way to avoid roads he considered unsuitable for safe riding. We want to remember Pete by doing our part to ensure the safety of anyone who rides a bicycle. We are hosting this ride to bring the local cycling community together to celebrate this wonderful sport, but also to learn how to share these roads more safely. Ride details: Entry Fee: $20.00 for all participants. All proceeds will go towards raising awareness for Nevada’s 3ft. law and educating riders and drivers about bicycling safety. Route: The ride will travel South down Las Vegas Blvd. to Jean and back. The course is an out and back route that consists of 25 flat to rolling miles on great pavement. Any type of bike will do, and there will be early turn around options. Helmets are required for all riders. Portions of the course will be open to traffic, so please obey all traffic laws and listen to course marshals. Safety: The ride will be closed to automobile traffic, police will manage traffic, and course marshals will be on hand to guide riders. This is a competition, but not a race! The 2014 edition includes a competition this year for the most visible bike and rider combination! Prizes will be awarded for the most visible bike and rider combo, so go nuts with lighting, high visibility colors, flags, or anything else you can think of to make you and your bike impossible to overlook on the roads. Prizes awarded for the top three entrants. We want cyclists of all ages and abilities to take part and enjoy a great day with other riders. Our goal is to raise awareness for Nevada’s 3 ft. law and to promote good riding habits and safety. Route map: Simple out and back courses Long course - from Camping World in Sloan to Gas Station in Jean. Approximately 28 miles Short course - from Camping World in Sloan to 8 mile turn around. Approximately 16 miles Waiver: See attached. Please fill out in advance and bring to the event, but we will have some available at ride registration the morning of the event. A signed waiver gets you a 3 Feet for Pete wrist band for entry into the event.
