THURSDAY SIGN OFF SONG!!! The fabulous talent that was Gene Pitney....my favorite male vocalist of all time!!! Such a class act, Gene was the consummate showman, very appreciative of his fans...he gave it his all!!! Always dressed nicely and left it all on the stage. He was a favorite with some of the best writers of the day, including Bacharach, Phil Spector and the team of Gerry Goffin and Carole King (who wrote this one). Gene was an artist that writers wanted to work with. Seldom does Gene show off his falsetto...but in this one? He really gives a clinic. White guys arent supposed to sound like this...but Gene has a gorgeous tenor...and falsetto was not a problem. Listen to how sweet it is!!! And so smooth...the transition he makes from tenor to falsetto is beautiful and effortless!!!
