TIP OF THE DAY Because your brain, heart, lungs, muscles, liver - TopicsExpress

TIP OF THE DAY Because your brain, heart, lungs, muscles, liver and kidneys, require energy (calories), your body burns calories even while at rest. How many comprises your resting metabolic rate (RMR) or basal metabolic rate (BMR). BMR is just a clinical RMR measure. How many calories burned is also based on your overall size and fitness levels. For instance, bodybuilders and advanced cancer patients require more energy than those who are sedentary, but relatively healthy, because their cells and tissues are working harder. And just as bigger cars use more fuel than smaller cars, bigger people use more energy than smaller people. Therefore, everyones energy needs are not the same each day and everyone does not just get 2000 calories per day with which to work. Nutrition information is based on a 2000 calories per day, because dietitians have to base the stats on some measure. Calories are energy or fuel.
