TITHE A tithe is one-tenth part of ones income.Tithing,or giving a tithe goes back to ancient times.In the bible the first person to pay tithe was ABRAM [ Genesis 14:18].This narrows down to our present generation because we are all descendant of Abram. Mosaic law [Moses] required that the Israelites gives one-tenth of their land,livestock and produce as tithe to support the Leviticus priest-hood.[Leviticus 27:30-33] Today, many Christians donate a tithe or 10 percent of their income to support their church,the pastors needs and missionary work. The New Testament talks the importance and benefit of given.We are to give as we are able other monies apart from the 10 percent may depend on the ability of Christians and the needs of the church. Every christian should diligently pray and seek Gods wisdom in the matter of participating in tithing or how to give [James 1:5].Above all, all tithes and offering should be given with pure motives and an attitude of worship to God and services to the body of Christ.
