TO ALL SCMERS CURRENTLY AT ORIENTATION CAMPS Dearly beloved, How are you? How has it been like at the camp? I am sorry I am getting to you this late. The tragedy of March 8, 2014 in which we lost 5 SCMers in a fatal swoop of an accident took a serious toll of my attention over other matters of ministry. I think it was on Tuesday, 11th March 2014 as I was getting back to Kaduna to attend to some funeral matters that I discovered there was a camping at the Kaduna NYSC orientation camp along Kaduna-Abuja road. Yes, NYSC camps can be that distressing and challenging, but its also quite interesting. It is one of these once-in-a-life-time experience. That is why as it lasts you can make the best use of it......Our country is in a critical crossroad. Several doomsday predictions about Nigeria packing up. I do not believe those predictions at all. In a few years, not long from now, Nigeria is statistically expected to become the 4th most populous country in the world. If we get much interested in human capital development with much work on the education of our young ones, you discover that the hope of a great nation, greater than what and where we are today is not yet lost. Modern economies thrive on manpower and human capital development. So there is great hope amidst the cacophonous cants of latter day social prophets. The NYSC is a wonderful program for the enhancement of national unity and making you a better Nigerian. You will discover the lies behind the stereotypes created about other Nigerian tribes when you get down properly with the NYSC program. The Somalian or Afghanistan shape that parts of our country have taken must not scare you. Prayerfully do your bit. Serve the motherland well. Shed off all bitterness against fellow country men and women. Today can become the morning of a Greater Nigeria. Where there is a will, there is a way. We can find a way out of this wood. YES, WE CAN in Nigeria. Be a true Christian all through the days of your service. Many have come to the service year to sell their birthrights because of momentary afflictions. Please, keep your birthright no matter what. If you do, you will not regret it. You must prayerfully come to the understanding of the vanity and emptiness of the things of this world. There is no heaven here. There is nothing here that does not have the wings to fly away soon. Money, wealth, riches, possessions, great jobs, beautiful accommodations, all have wings to fly away. Even beauty has the waning wings to fly away. In a world of a discontinuing city, nothing continues here. Even the life we bear here is like a vapor. So what is it? Take hold of the eternal life which you have in Christ Jesus. That is what counts. When the chips are down that is the only thing that will keep standing. Be a true SCMer. A true SCM is S - Soul winner par excellence. A true SCMer is C - a Christian through and through without apology to any. Then a true SCMer is M - a Missionary to young people. We are always on the move. Being a Christian, the C - is our IDENTITY. Being a Soul winner, the S -is our INTEREST. Being a Missionary to young people, the M - is our our INVESTMENT. Through our missionary thrust, we invest in the future. Let not your heart be troubled. Do not be afraid. Just watch and pray. Build up prayer alliances. Inform your prayer partners before you travel. We at the headquarters are praying for you. Days of afflictions are over. It CANNOT HAPPEN AGAIN! Glory be to God forever. Amen. It is well. Your brother, Harold Ozioma Ikewueze, GS. SCM NIGERIA.
