TO ALL STAFF AND STUDENTS NB:Please take note of the following important information regarding the second semester registration period. The institution currently has different registration models and cycles amongst the different faculties, namely, a Single Registration Model for Human Sciences and Management Sciences and two registrations per year for the faculties of Applied and Computer Sciences and Engineering Technology. From this year, as per a Senate Resolution, all faculties will only have one registration cycle per year, in January of each year. This means that all students registered at the beginning of the year in all faculties have been registered for the whole year. The implications of this decision for the 2013 July registration period are the following: • The Faculty of Human Sciences and Management Sciences will not be affected by these changes. Theses faculties will apply the processes they normally follow at this time of the year; • In as far as the Faculties of Engineering and Technology and Applied and Computer Science, the following are relevant: o No new applicants will be registered in the second semester of 2013. All new applications will be processed for the 2014 January intake; o Introduction to IT(IT-Intro) and Introduction to Science, Engineering and Technology(Intr­o-SET)students will be allowed to register for the mainstream programmes; o Repeating students will be allowed this once to repeat subjects in the second semester; o Students will be assisted to choose relevant subjects to enrol for, for the second semester; o Only Intro-SET and IT-Intro students will pay the registration fee of R1700, students who registered in January will not pay the registration fee. However, all students are expected to service their accounts judiciously with the University. The July registration calendar will be amended as follows: • Registration of Intro-SET and IT-Intro -12 July 2013 • Additions & Cancellations: Faculty of Engineering & Technology -15 to 17 July 2013 • Additions & Cancellations: Faculty of Applied & Computer Sciences -18 to 20 July 2013 • BTech registrations (ONLY WHERE ALLOWED) -22 to 26 July 2013
