TO EXPLORE AN ISLAND, IS TO RISK OBSESSION . Good Morning, My intention this morning was to write a little more about the walls of Aran - but, I was in bed early last night ( not very rock n roll !! ) and listened to part of a radio program about the author and map maker , Tim Robinson. The above line is the first sentence of an essay he wrote and has stayed with me and indeed, rang true, over the years. His two books about this island could only be described as , classics. He has a scientific and clinical approach but also shows a deep sense of appreciation for nature and the natural rythms of this unique island. I remember years ago when I was organising the first charity swim from Inis mean to Inis Mor, I rang him for advice --- Im not sure what I was expecting but he just said - Go for it, and we did !
