Ranked the “world’s third highest disaster risk country” according to the United Nations Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. The Philippines has endured many disasters, the devastation is both natural and man-made. The people of the Philippines are in need of our help. If their government wont provide the aid the Philippine people need, we can. CANDLES WILL BE PROVIDED, WE WILL START AT 4 pm. SHARP Directions: From Eglinton Subway Station, take bus 34 Eglinton East. Get off at Eglinton Avenue E & Redpath Avenue. Contact Info: 647 520 0078 *** “Support from our kababayans abroad is overwhelming. Despite their dire circumstances, they are more than willing and ready to pitch in. For instance, even stranded OFWs in the Tent City in Saudi and undocumented OFWs in South Korea and Europe are conducting their own relief efforts,” said Garry Martinez, Migrante International chairperson. OFWs from the abovementioned countries will also be participating in tomorrow’s #KapitBisig International Day of Solidarity and Action for the victims of supertyphoon Yolanda to call on the Philippine government to hasten and systematize rescue and relief efforts and to make sure that much-needed help reaches the most badly-hit areas. “OFWs are especially grateful that their host governments are sending in their support. However, they demand transparency from the Philippine government for all incoming foreign aid. The bigger tragedy is if corrupt officials in government exploit this calamity to further plunder and steal funds meant for victims and survivors. All available resources should be made accessible to our people,” Martinez said. *** [SIGN PETITION HERE] change.org/petitions/philippine-consulate-general-in-toronto-scrap-the-pork-barrel-and-re-channel-funds-to-consular-services
