TODAYS PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 11/8/13 PEACEFUL PROTEST TO BE HELD immediately PRIOR TO Hearing set for disposition of veteran’s therapy dog Aurora, CO, November 8, 2013 -- Citizens will hold a peaceful protest starting at noon at the Aurora Municipal Court, 14999 E. Alameda Parkway, Aurora, CO 80012. Frederick John Katz III, Captain-Medical Service Corps (Ret) US Army National Guard (9/11 First Responder) will be at the peaceful protest and hearing set for 1:30 pm. for his newly adopted therapy dog that was impounded by Aurora on 10/26/13 for being suspected as a being a “restricted breed” dog (i.e. “pit bull”); “Stallone” was on transport from AZ to NJ when he was seized. Stallone was seized almost exactly four years to the date from when Aurora seized Vietnam Veteran Allen Griders pit bull mix therapy dog Precious that lead to a 3 year long lawsuit against Aurora. After the protest Judge Huffine will be asked to approve a compromise reached by the defendant’s attorney Juliet Piccone and the City Attorney. A hearing is set for Friday November 8, 2013 at 1:30 at the City of Aurora Municipal Court, Division 4 to determine whether a dog named Stallone should be released to his owner who lives in NJ or euthanized. Stallone was being transported from AZ to NJ after being adopted by Katz. The transporter had a two day lay-over in CO to pick up his truckload before going on to NJ. On October 26, 2013 the transporter decided to take Stallone to a dog park for some exercise. This would have been fine for any other dog, but Stallone had been rescued after being used as a “bait” dog where his teeth were filed down, his legs hobbled as he was thrown in a ring to be torn apart by dogs being trained to fight to the death. After the dogfighters had no use for him he was shot in the neck and left in the dessert to die. He was rescued and Katz moved heaven and earth to adopt him from K9 Buddies Rescue. Since Stallone had not yet been desensitized to the horrors of the fighting ring, we can only assume he felt he was being thrown to the dogs again when he went to the dog park. He attacked a small dog (who was injured but is expected to be ok and all bills paid by the defendant) and when animal control came to investigate the call of a vicious pit bull attack, they impounded Stallone for being a restricted breed. # # # If you would like more information about this topic, please contact Juliet Piccone at 720-535-6246 or email at Juliet@thepicconelawfirm. - See more at: youcaring/pet-expenses/save-stallone-the-former-bait-dog/101736#sthash.29ax0E7X.dpufyoucaring/pet-expenses/save-stallone-the-former-bait-dog/101736
