TODAYS TOPIC: Hey Babylonians! I have an awesome topic today. I was just discussing the future of cast albums with a friend and I have a theory. Go with me. I truly think the future of cast albums will transition to live, professionally recorded performances of shows as the official cast album. Perfect example: The most recent Miss Saigon revival that is playing to sold-out, packed houses in London thanks to Cameron Mackintosh and his creative genius. Go figure it was also his idea to do the cast album this way and it wasnt the first time nor will it be the last. I dont think this will happen overnight, but the cost HAS to be cheaper and some people enjoy listening to the album as if their butt was in the seat AT the show. Just a thought, but thats my opinion. What do YOU guys think? Would you rather a professional album made traditionally in a sound studio the Monday after a show opened...OR...a professionally-made, live cast album over the course of a few actual performances?...
