TOPIC : KNOWING THE TERROR OF THE LORD I PERSUADE MEN AND WOMEN. (PART ONE). -THE SCRIPTURE- For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He the despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or more witnesses: of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite the Spirit of Grace? For we know Him that hath said, vengeance belongeth unto Me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, the Lord shall judge His people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God….HEBREWS 10:26-31. -THE MESSAGE- Just as Apostle Paul proclaimed so I proclaim; that I, knowing the terror of the Lord, I persuade men and women. I call upon all that name the name of the Lord to amend their ways and follow our God according to His words and not according to the commandments and imaginations of vain men and women. For it is appointed unto every man and unto every woman, once to die, and then judgment. Brethren, there is no repentance in the grave. Once we give up this earthly tabernacle we shall face the obvious – we shall give account of our stewardship here on earth. There is no escaping this matter – it is certain as life and death. As Long as our Lord liveth, the unrighteous and all that work wickedness, shall not make heaven at last – except they repent. One day, one of my unsaved clients,(I am a Lawyer by profession), asked me to explain why God had “blessed” him with all things that he seemed not to have any problems in this life: but that in contrast, I that served the Lord with all my heart was facing all manners of trials; including the loss of my wife at a very tender age? And when he said all things, he was referring to the things of this life. Well, I had quite a lot to tell him, but for want of time, I just told him that what he had was earthly, perishable and temporary and that I had was heavenly, eternal and everlasting. My unbelieving client was very quick to dismiss every idea of heaven at last; claiming that the whole idea of heaven and hell was just meant to make men and women live right here on earth. I then informed my unfortunate client that if he believed that the God of the Bible was the One that blessed him with all that He had, even in his wicked ways, that it was in his best interest to also believe that whatever the same God said in His scriptures, including eternal judgment, was certain: that it was futile and hopeless for mortals to struggle to wish away some parts of the Bible that do not appeal to them and accept those that appeal to their indulgences. He went home sorrowful. Men and brethren, there are many, even amongst us, that wish that some parts of the Bible were never there at all. Day by day, such folks, even in the very body of Christ, struggle to alter, amend, rewrite or even out rightly expunge some parts of the scriptures that do not appeal to their ways and means. And one of such “unappealing” sections of the scriptures is the book of Revelation. Even some popular preachers of this gospel have come to a personal conclusion that the book of Revelation is not what it is – that it is a sort of symbol – something that some folks imagined and put in the Bible just to fill up space. And they do not keep these ideas within themselves and members of their families, they also struggle to spread these venoms to as many as willing to hear and follow their pervasive messages. But I have some bad news for these enemies of righteousness and haters of God. Wherever the area, and whatever may be their justification, let them know that they have deliberately believed a lie and are spreading same. Let somebody help me to inform them that heaven and earth will pass away, but even an iota of the written word of our God will never fall to the ground without being fulfilled even to the very letters.
