TR100 Quips I was awake a total of 49 hours from Thursday 11am to 4pm Saturday afternoon(not counting many naps on the trail) I slept numerous times in the trail but asked to do so rather than just doing, it always helped. I always got right back up and ran! I bathed in a creek prior to the start and yes it was very cold. I was actually nervous and anxious for this event. I wanted to finish in less than 24 hours based on my training but wasnt able to do so due to my nutrition losses and sleep, but thats ok I can work on that. Other than crushing my left big toe I had -zero- injuries (blisters tears or toe nail loss) from the race. I changed clothing when needed and always carry dry socks regardless of weather, they absorb blood very well and make great bandages. I have to eat lots and lots of sugar during activity, super low body fat can be a burden during wet and cold movement. I always had at least 15 gels and 6 small slim jims when leaving each A/S along with chewable vitamins and many electrolyte tabs. I ate at A/S 15 miles apart and my gels the rest of the time. At A/S I ate very clean and no junk food, best food other than bacon, Pumpkin pancakes! An ultra friend was trying to explain I didnt drink to someone who offered during the race, that was cool they did so and didnt hesitate! Jj your awesome! I was told a very profound compliment which I wont disclose. Why folks think Im military I dont know. Its very easy to get lost in the dark even when your pacer is yelling at you. A/S workers are the bomb, I looked like hell and they kept telling me I looked great. When taking a leak in the dark its easy to tell when someone is watching, I got them back tho ;-} Every person out there knew what pain and beauty was that day, but still managed to smile. I ran the fastest I had the entire event the last 8/9 miles. I had Amazing Support from Amazing Friends who sacrificed much for little ole me. I ran with Three Wonderful Men, Kelly Jay and my son, Creed. I slept just 3 hours after the race then drove slept all the way home to shower try and eat, sleep then got up and worked my 12 hours on Sunday with zero issues and ate a gluttony meal at Hooters Sunday evening after work, with water to drink. Like most anyone else I started with a 5K. Something makes you Happy, I have many many that do that for me. Running is my outlet now and I cant say IT always will be, but for now, IS. A few people couldnt make it, I wish they could have. All the best, Ric...Thank You!
