TRAINING RIDES for Grafton Disclaimer -these are not official Club rides or rides sanctioned by the Club but just group rides undertaken at each participant’s own risk by riders, some of whom may be members of our Club, but also stating that they are conducted on public roads and therefore are not “closed” rides. The riders however have an expectation that any person joining a ride has a level of fitness and sufficient knowledge of bunch etiquette and safe riding practices so as to not endanger the safety of fellow riders. Tuesday and Thursday Alternative 1 – 5:30 am meet at Market Square/Clocktower, Prince Street – hard fast training ride for experienced riders, may incl intervals/efforts of higher intensity - avge speed 32-36 kmph – approx 90min (various locations) Alternative 2 – 6:10 am meet at Albion Hotel, Cnr Arthur & Queen Streets – less intense ride, only two gentle hills, generally a conversational pace - avge speed 28-30 kmph – approx 70min (Trenayr Loop) Both return to town for coffee/breaky Wednesday Alternative 1 – 5:15 am meet at Market Square/Clocktower, Prince Street – solid training ride for experienced riders, may incl periods of higher intensity - avge speed 30-34 kmph – approx 90min (various locations) Alternative 2 – 5:50 am (on the dot!) meet at Market Square/Clocktower, Prince Street – less intense ride, a few good hills, generally to Shannon Creek dam entry and return - avge speed 25-28kmph – approx 90min (Shannon Creek) Both return to town for coffee/breaky Friday Alternative 1 – 5:50 am meet at Albion Hotel, Cnr Arthur & Queen Streets (Coffee Ride) – less intense ride, only two gentle hills, generally a conversational pace - avge speed 28-30 kmph – approx 60min (Trenayr Loop-short) Alternative 2 – 6:00 am meet at Albion Hotel, Cnr Arthur & Queen Streets (Coffee Ride) – slower less intense ride, only gentle hills, generally a conversational pace - avge speed 25-28kmph – approx 65min (Trenayr Loop-short) - This ride is seasonal -if you wish to participate, email the [email protected] to ensure the ride is going ahead we can usually organise a bunch leader to assist newcomers Both return to town for coffee/breaky Saturday Winter – 1:00 pm (or 12:30 if race is at Pringles Way or Tucabia) meet at Market Square/Clocktower, Prince Street – ride to race (various locations), those who want to race, others help/watch/go for short loop then return to town after race - avge speed 28-30 kmph – approx 2.5 to 3.5 hours Summer – 6:00 am meet at Market Square/Clocktower, Prince Street –ride to race venue at Trenayr, those who want to race, others help/watch/go for short loop then return to town after race for coffee/breaky - avge speed 28- 30 kmph – approx 2 hours Sunday and Public Holidays 7:00 am meet at Market Square/Clocktower, Prince Street – recovery ride, may incl periods of higher intensity - avge speed 28-30 kmph – approx 90 -120min (various locations) Return to town for coffee/breaky
