TRANSPORT SAT 03/29/14 MARLINTON, WV TO RIVERHEAD, NY FOR CHICO Christina Rhodes crhodestransports@gmail TRANSPORT SATURDAY MARCH 29, 2014 MARLINTON, WV TO RIVERHEAD, NY FOR CHICO **** MUST FILL BY 6PM THURSDAY MARCH 27, 2014 **** Meet is Chico. He has lived his whole short life with an elderly lady and her cats so 1) hes very shy and 2) he LOVES cats and thinks he is one. He is friendly, it just takes him a while to warm. He is also reported to use a litter box. He is considered a flight risk so he will be traveling in a crate big enough to accommodate a litter box and his security blanket to reduce the number of times hed need handled. A real potty break here and there may be ok if he seems to be doing well but a slip lead be must be used. chico1.jpg PERMISSION TO CROSSPOST - DO NOT POST ON CRAIGSLIST!! Relay transports cannot operate if there is a missing link in the chain, and the rescue animals suffer as a result. If an emergency arises that prevents you from driving you must notify the transport coordinator as soon as possible. Please be respectful of the entire team that has been assembled. *ADOPTION OFF TRANSPORT* Removing an animal from a transport before it has reached the final destination indicated on this run sheet constitutes theft in all 50 states and will be reported to local, state, or federal law enforcement agencies. In addition, your name will be publicized on Do Not Transport lists that are widely circulated in the rescue and transport communities. Guidelines for Driving - CRHODES Transports DO NOT allow additional animals on the transport that are not included on the run sheet, unless you have been instructed by me. DO remember that transports are stressful for rescue animals and they may suffer from nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Please do not feed them during transports since it may upset their stomachs (a few treats are ok). DO NOT bring your personal dogs with you. They may become territorial with a new dog in the vehicle. DO keep the leash attached to the collar during the entire transport (all dogs will have their own leash/collar for the transport). DO NOT transport dogs in an open truck bed, even if crated - dogs must be inside a temperature controlled vehicle. DO make sure the dog(s) are secure BEFORE opening any doors! DO NOT allow the general public to interact with the dogs during transports. Once a transport is filled, I will send out a run sheet that includes personal contact information for each driver. Some meeting spots may be assigned - if not, the two meeting drivers must agree to a mutual meeting spot. Additional instructions maybe in the run sheet. All instructions are important so please read them carefully. Please remember that like you, I am a volunteer. Some of the animals are in need of transport due to dire situations. I take every precaution, through transport protocol, to ensure that the animals are free of infectious diseases, but there is always the possibility that something has not shown itself. Neither I, the sending party, or the receiving party can be held liable for any illnesses the dog contracts, or show symptoms of, AFTER the original health certificate was given; be it before, during or after the transport. DO make sure your cell phone is charged and turned on, from the beginning of the transport to the completion of your leg. Problems can happen well before your leg and result in changes to your leg of the transport. It is important that you monitor your email and ensure that the email address that you use for transports is one that you can easily access for updates. Transport updates are sent after every hand off. This update will include how the dog(s) are traveling and if we are ahead or behind schedule. FINAL RUN SHEETS CONTAIN PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR DRIVERS AND ARE NOT TO BE SHARED WITH ANYONE NOT RELATED TO THE TRANSPORT!!! PLEASE BRING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WITH YOU ON YOUR LEG: The entire run sheet, not just your leg of the transport! Your rescue transport kit (see below) All rescue dogs are flight risks; make sure before you open your door that leashes are attached to collars and securely in your grasp. An additional slip lead is a wonderful idea. RESCUE TRANSPORT KIT: Extra leashes - slip leads are perfect A water bowl (if multiple dogs, multiple bowls) Fresh water Paper towels Plastic grocery bags Anti-bacterial hand gel Wet wipes -- Christina Chris Rhodes Volunteer Transport Coordinator Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. ― Dale Carnegie
