TREES BEING FELLED AT ORCHID RESEARCH CENTRE, DARJEELING We have come to know from reliable sources that hardwood trees which mostly contain Rhododendron, Magnolia and Michelia are being felled at the Orchid Research Centre campus on AJC Bose Road in Darjeeling. Apparently about 15 trees have been marked for felling or already felled in the research institute. We are not sure who gave them the permission or why they are cutting down these trees, but we request the authorities to immediately stop this madness. These trees are OUR HERITAGE and we need to protect them. We request the Darjeeling Municipality authorities and Forest authorities to immediately ban the felling of these trees and prosecute those who are responsible for such an heinous act.
