TROOP A NEWS RELEASE July 6, 2014 Speed Considered Factor in Livingston Parish Fatal Crash Denham Springs – Shortly before 1:30 am on July 6, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on LA Hwy 16 south of LA Hwy 1028 in Livingston Parish. The crash took the life of 22 year old Cameron G. Bordelon of Baton Rouge, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Bordelon was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla northbound on LA Hwy 16. For unknown reasons Bordelon began to drift off the roadway to the left towards the raised center concrete median. He then overcorrected to the right and the vehicle exited the roadway to the right. The Corolla overturned and struck a tree. After striking the tree the Toyota continued rolling down an embankment into a canal. Bordelon was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries as a result. Driver impairment is unknown at this time; however, a toxicology sample was taken from Bordelon and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. A 16 year old male was restrained in the front passenger seat. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Excessive speed is considered to have been a factor in the crash. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelt use, especially during a busy Fourth of July weekend. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Contact Information: TFC Jared L.
