TRUST The WORD for this week is TRUST. In this season of my life, my understanding of trust where God and people are concerned has been greatly challenged. The word trust is the Hebrew word “batach” (pronounced: baw-takh) which describes a person with great confidence, someone who is secure and bold, and finally, one who refuses to take the care of something. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Have confidence (assurance, faith and belief) in Jehovah, you will find your security and boldness in Him. The more your mind understands these truths, the fewer struggles you will have within yourself. Make sure Jehovah is in the center of every journey you take because He will make the crooked places straight and keep you on the right path. (Apostle Hughes paraphrase, Proverbs 3:5-6) Do you remember what King David, the great psalmist wrote in Psalms 20:7? Some [trust] in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. People put their trust all the time in things that aren’t eternal, they put it in the stock market, some politicians promise, the company they work for, even friends and family only to be disappointed again and again (myself included). However, David reminds us of who our trust should ultimately and always be in. The word remember translates from the Hebrew language as to “always stay mindful and check the records” when it comes to God’s reputation, fame and glory. Why? He can’t fail; He is God all by Himself. There are over one hundred and thirty scriptures in the Bible dealing with the subject of trust. Many of them are filled with promises and provision to those whose trust is in God. When life is throwing its greatest curve ball at you, remember, the God in you knew what kind of pitch it was before it was released against you. If you trust Him, He will tell you when to swing and also how to swing to knock it out of the park (YOUR LIFE). Bishop T.D. Jakes once said, “You have to trust Him (God) even when you can’t trace Him.” The Thesaurus uses word like “draw, outline, copy, sketch and map out” for the word trust. Right now I hear the words to an old hymn in my Spirit: “Trust and obey, For there’s no other way, To be happy in Jesus, Just to trust and obey” Stop beating your self up, most of us at one time or another has had or are having trust issues. Aren’t you glad He isn’t finished with us yet? His servant by choice, Dr. Hughes
