TRUSTING GOD HILLSIDE HELPS-“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. Save, Lord: let the king hear us when we call.” (Ps. 20:7-9) It is only by faith that anyone can truly follow the Lord. This faith is in the one True God, who reigns over all of creation, and keeps everything working according to His plan. We may not be able to see beyond our current circumstances or understand what God is currently doing, but by faith, we continue on. At times this is very difficult, especially when our hearts have been broken by something or someone. We watch as others around us seem to prosper and we continue to suffer. If not careful, we fall into the pit of self-pity and get bogged down with ourselves and forget about others. Trusting God is a commitment that survives all the ups and downs in life, IE: mountain to valley experiences. What God wills to do with us is to get us out of our comfort zones. As much as we all like “routines”, the Lord has His special way of getting us out of our normalcies in life. Just remember, the best of lessons learned in life won’t be learned while we are shouting on the mountain, but when we are trusting God in the valley. We have committed to “remember the name of the Lord.” meaning, we will trust Him through all things. The joy and victories come through faith, so beware of concentrating on how you feel. Feelings are emotions that God has given to us, but used unwisely will bring many disasters along the way. About any one of us can jump up and down, shouting and singing, when high on the mountain, but to walk with a settled joy in your heart through the deep valleys requires a quiet trust in the unseen God. The Holy Spirit within you expresses Himself not just in the high places, but also in the lowly places along the journey. Most are trusting in chariots and horses. They have put their trust in what appears with the eyes to be “pure brute strength”, while ignoring the all-powerful God. At some point they are sadly disappointed when the wheels of the chariot come of and the horses are drowned, as was the case in the Red Sea, when God destroyed the army of Pharaoh. How sad it will be for those who “did it my way” and have to suffer defeat and the coming judgment and are “brought down and fallen”; while the saints of God arise and “stand upright”. Today, rise and stand upright as you unashamedly declare your trust in the Lord. He will carry you to victory and raise you up to stand upright in the dark days ahead. (Bro Jerry McNeer) PLEASE SHARE
