TUESDAY 26/11/13 On Morning Brew today, a slight change to our usual Tuesday, as Harvey Stockwin will join us with Steve Vines on Thursday. Instead, after 10, well find out about a stunning exhibition of photos from the late 1800s in Through the Lens of John Thomson: Hong Kong and Coastal China, 1868-1872. Thompson was a Scottish photographer who opened a studio in Queens Road Central (which was the actual waterfront at the time) in 1868. Curator Betty Yao MBE will talk about how the photos have been freshly printed from the original glass negatives, and can be seen at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum. At 11.40 well get the scoop on a very cool, Very Hong Kong, 9 day festival which is happening here in December. Well meet organiser Chris Law, and pianist Michelle Kim whos taking care of the musical side of things. Some live music after 12 with fab singer songwriter, Laura Kenny. A few years ago, Laura co-produced her debut album ‘Drive’ with David Scott of Scottish band The Pearlfishers. The songs ‘Footprints’ and ‘High Horse’ have been played a lot on various radio stations in the UK, including BBC Radio Scotland. A particular live highlight for Laura was opening for Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Kim Richey, in Edinburgh. Well wrap up after 12.30 with Movie Maestro Sam Ho, from the HK Film Archive, for one of our occasional film banters.
