Table Time! The details of the Death of my Lord. I still cannot understand why He would give His life for me, but I am very thankful that He did. Betrayed by one of His own Matt 26:14-16 14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, 15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. 16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him. Mark 14:43-46 43 And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. 44 And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. 45 And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him. 46 And they laid their hands on him, and took him. Luke 22:48 48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? Taken to the High priest’s house Luke 22:54 54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priests house. And Peter followed afar off. Followed by Peter’s denial of the Lord, as the Lord had earlier Foretold. Luke 22:63-65 63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. 64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? 65 And many other things blasphemously spake they against him. Before the Sanhedrin After being accused by false witnesses Matt 26:63-64 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. 64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Matt 26:67 67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands, Taken to Pilate 1st time before Pilate Luke 23:1-7 1 And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. 2 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King. 3 And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it. 4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man. 5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place. 6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean. 7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herods jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time. Before Herod Luke 23:11 11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate. Before Pilate the 2ed time Mark 15:7-14 7 And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection. 8 And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them. 9 But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? 10 For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy. 11 But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto that he should rather release Barabbas unto them. 12 And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews? 13 And they cried out again, Crucify him. 14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him. Matt 27:26-31 26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. 27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. 28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. 29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! 30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. 31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him. As the Lord carried His Cross Matt 27:32 Lets us know that one Simon of Cyrene was compelled by the soldiers to bear his cross indicating the severity of the Lord’s previous beating. Matt 27:33-35, 37 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull, 34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink. 35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. 37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. Luke 23:33-34 33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. Matt 27:45-47 45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias. John 19:28-30 28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost We have been studying the FACT that all things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made (John 1, Genesis 1-2). He made Calvary Himself in preparation for the work of this day. He had complete control of the situation and GAVE His life for me. Why would I not love Him, understanding the TRUTH above? Why would I not serve Him, understanding the TRUTH above? No one has ever come close to doing anything like that for me in this physical life and yet I do for others, many times without being asked to do so. I cannot figure why I spent so many years as His child out of His will, doing nothing for Him but I am happy that He did that which was necessary to pull me back into His fellowship in 2003. It makes good sense to serve the Lord understanding this truth. Dont just call Him Lord, mean it. Isaiah 6:5-8 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. (6) Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: (7) And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. (8) Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. Not hard to understand why Isaiah saw himself for what he truly was on that day is it? The FACT is I am unworthy to stand before the Lord but because of the application of His Blood, I will soon be absent from this mortal body and present with the Lord. It is the Blood He shed on that day that cleanses me for eternity. Without the application of the Blood you will receive the wrath of God for all eternity. Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. These are the words of my Lord prior to His work on Calvary. We know Jesus Christ the Lord is the Word in John chapter one. He is, was and always will be God. He prays here in His humanity and as an ensample for us. In serving God there may be times that the physical would prefer not to go through the will of the Father and there is nothing wrong with asking Him to remove this cup. However the physical desires are not to overcome the will of the Father, nevertheless not my will but thine be done. Jesus Christ the Lord is 100% God and 100% Man. His flesh was perfect as the Second Adam still made in the image of God from birth, due to the man having nothing to do with His birth. His desire not to have to go through the pain of service was in His humanity but His desires as a man were rejected that the work might be done. See how great an Example we have? I am very thankful that the Lord based His decisions on that day on the FACTS of the will of the Father as oppose to the FEELINGS of His Humanity. As His child, I ought to do the same. If you have never called upon the name of the Lord according to the Scriptures, you can. God will adopt you into His family and you will be His child. Turn to Romans 10:9-10, I Corinthians 15:1-4, Eph 2:8-9 and Acts 8:26-40 and read of the greatest gift ever given.
