Taken from Longcroft news letter today......Very proud :-) Ryan Collinson On Thursday 10th July, Mr. West and Mr. Dyson took a small group of Year 8 students to Teen Tech at the KC Stadium in Hull. This is an annual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) event, organised by Maggie Philbin (Tomorrows World, Top of the Pops, Bang Goes the Theory). There were around 250 other students from Hull and East Riding schools, with a range of tasks and competitions in which they were engaged. They had a thoroughly good time and one student, Ryan Collinson, won a prize for his idea to enhance life in 2050. With well over 200 entries, it was judged by Maggie Philbin and a range of industry experts, including two app designers (one of who designed Skype!). Ryan was thrilled to win an iPod Touch and receive much praise from the judges. Matthew Ireland and Hattie Donkin also got special mentions for their ideas. All the students involved learnt much, enjoyed themselves and were a credit to Longcroft.
